I've called them and there's nothing I can do. Thanks for your help guys!0

Yes, the Smartplan lease is up front about this option. However, we were told it applies to Infinity also IF the customer requests it. The fact that we were told it doesn't necessarily mean it's accurate
I was told the exact opposite by a rep from Rentsmart, but to be honest I'm not sure I believe it.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -

I guess the fact that even the salespeople are given conflicting information explains why there are a lot of threads here by customers upset because the contract wasn't decribed clearly. I told several customers who asked me the question that it was possible to take ownership of the laptop at the end of the term, because that's what we'd been told in the product training... I hope none of them ended up in the OP's situation.
OP - sorry you weren't able to get anywere with this, but don't beat yourself up. Just use it as a learning experience and be careful to read contracts before signing in future.0 -
Update - I spoke to someone different today and as a good will feature they will let me keep it for £72 (the amount they offered my cashback). I feel a lot better thanks for your help x0

Read paperwork you're asked to sign, especially if you buy things from PC World / Currys
Add up the amounts an agreement asks you to pay and see if when you see the total cost whether the cost is worth it.
What you signed up for is a leasing agreement designed for businesses who are not worried about the cost but want an upto date ish gadget with minimal down time. It's a very expensive system and is not worth it for the average Joe Bloggs0 -

Well it all comes down to value and pecived benefits.
Some people may pay extra for Accidental Damage, Covers Theft, Internet Security, Automatic online Backup for a regular monthly payment.
I don't see any problem offering the service IF it's explained right and sold correctly.
Infinity also has less stringent credit checks I believe, so it allows consumers to budget for a more expensive machine then they could normaly afford.(Terrible MSE advice)
I personally wouldn't get Infintity as it doesn't suit my needs, but I can see how it may suit some peoples.0
