Need to get car insurance renewal down - please help

My car insurance is due for renewal today. I have searched everywhere I can think of but the cheapest really does seem to be from my existing insurer! I have tried re-applying as a new customer but that's much more expensive! However, they have only offered me a price £6 cheaper than last year. I asked if they could beat it and they said 'no' so I said I would leave it! Can anyone offer me any tips to try to get them to reduce the price? If they can't, they can't but I'm hoping there might be something I can do that I don't know about? I have to phone back in a little while as I need to get cover so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading! :-)

Check your annual mileage with your MOT certificates and see how this compares with the insurance schedule.

Yes, ring them back and accept it. Any sort of reduction would be acceptable to be honest. Youre lucky it didnt go up 20%.

Accept and its all over and done with.

Wow, I got mine reduced by some £135! Only paying £315 full comp this year and I'm only 25 ;)
  • That makes me more convinced they pull their prices out of thin air! Out of interest, how many years no claims do you have? I am also 25 and have been quoted under £200. I think I'll just go and pay before they change their mind haha! x

    A) cashback is not guaranteed
    B) they quoted more for a new policy than the renewal.

Check what time it is due for renewal, the statement 'due for renewal today' could be ambiguous.

Due for renewal today could mean it ran out at midnight last night.

I've got 7 years no claims. My car is an import and it does have a few modifications (although Flux don't charge extra for them). I'm also a bloke!

I can't believe you're wanting to get insurance for less than £200. Cough up and move on haha!

You cannot possibly compare your quote with Lee's as you have no idea what sort of car he has, where he lives, who else is on his policy etc. etc. Under £200 sounds fair enough. Just move on!
