Car Insurance Query - Help Please

I have just had my car insurance renewal through from Admiral. It had gone up 100% from last year even though I have not had any accidents, points, speeding fines or claims made by me or my wife (who's a named driver on my policy) in that year. We both have protected no claims of 15yrs.
I rung to query the rise and ran through details again to see if a saving could be made. He asked if either of us had had an accident in the last year. Now my wife was hit from behind late last year in her own car, not mine that she has her own insurance for (i'm a named driver on her policy). The other driver admitted liability and the matter went through the other drivers insurance not my wifes. Incidentally the claim has still not been settled as she is still having physio for a neck injury sustained as a result.
I mentioned this to the man from admiral and he informed me that the policy would go up a further £100 on top of the 100% increase from last year.
My questions are this:
Do I legally have to mentioned the accident as my wife technically never claimed on her insurance?
Should my wife mention it when she applies for her own car insurance that she has had an accident?

You need to answer the questions asked. The normal question asked is for each driver is "have you been involved in any accidents or incidents irrespective of fault".
She/ you will have to answer "yes" to that wording on any policy in which she is a named driver0 -
Get away from the big name insurers.
Just for giggles I got a quote from Admiral this year. I'm 25, 7 years NCB, driving for 8 years. Car is a '94 mazda mx5 1.8 and they quoted me over £1200. I have just renewed with Adrian Flux for £315 with modifications and 3 points declared.
The big name insurers are a massive rip off. Admiral added an extra £300 onto the policy just because I have 3 points on my licence. Hardly justifiable. (Quote was about £950 when I done it with no points to see the difference)0 -

Insurers have their own preferred target customer, if you fit it then you'll get a good price, if you dont you'll get a bad price.
Playing about the other night I decided to see how much it would cost to add my wife to my proposed new car (shes newly qualified driver and the car is new 4.5L turbo). Admiral wanted an extra £150, the next cheapest insurer wanted an extra £6,000; most didnt want to touch it it all.0 -

Claims accidents or incidents even where no claim has been made.
Take her off your policy and it may reduce. Although if the policy has started it may actually increase. You never can tell with insurance.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
