Whats the best things to have in your cupboards that can make easy cheap meals, novice chef needs advice

If you read this thread, you'll see the same things come up again and again: lentils, root and leafy veg, pasta, rice, mince, tinned toms.
Meals for 2 for 50p.

Baked beans (put them in chilies, casseroles etc to make them go further), Oxo cubes,
tinned tomatoes,
tomato puree,
a bread/pizza base mix (esp if you have no breadmaking experience),
pasta,
rice,
dried onions (great if you don't like too much onion),
cornflour or sauce flour,
dried noodles (plain so you can add them to a few strir fried veg)
a selection of herbs and spices (chili powder, sage, thyme, parsley, dill, garlic granules, mint, black pepper, lo-salt)
tuna
Sweetcorn
Spuds (jacket potato, potato toppings for pies etc)
Fridge:-
Milk
Cheese
Eggs
freezer:-
Mixed veg
Peas
