OS store cupboard basics

Options
My guess is that there's probably already a thread like this, but I can't find it!

I've just been reading the 'feed 2 people for £1' thread which assumes there is no store cupboard. The question is, what 10 basics should OS have in their store cupboard, and where is the cheapest place to buy these?

I'll start off by saying Lidl Olive Oil
Plain flour from ???
Sugar from ?? (I always nick a few extra sticks of sugar when I'm out mystery shopping, so have free sugar for coffee)
Butter from?? (prob Lidl or Tesco)

Apologies, and I promise to go away quietly :p , if this has been done before.
I was a board guide here for many years, but have now resigned. Amicably, but I think it reflects very poorly on MSE that I have not even received an acknowledgement of my resignation! Poor show, MSE.

    Hi JM,

Not exactly the same as yours, so not worth merging, but these older threads might help give someone ideas:

Not sure if this thread has been done before or not but I buy plain and SR flour from Tesco (value) for 27p.
Herbs and spices, can buy in bulk from Asian stores.
    Worcestershire sauce
    Balsamic vinegar
    salt
    pepper
    eggs (always have eggs in)
potatoes (always have potatoes, buy them by the sack in winter)
    vinegar

cant think of any more at the minute.

    Bicarbonate of soda,
    powdered egg,
cocoa powder (suddenly make the kids more interested in your puddings by adding cocoa powder).

    We always have these in

    Tinned toms
    Onions
    Pasta
    Porridge Oats
    Eggs
    Emergency loaf in freezer

With those in at least you've got a full days worth of meals in an emergency.

I use it in most of my recipes instead of normal egg. I have been experimenting with a wartime menu for the last 2 months so I bought it for that.
