FYI, I have just bought one of these and it is a great laptop - but battery life struggles, lucky to get 2.5 hours out of it0

I have looked everywhere on the description - is there a back-lit keyboard?
No.

I suppose I should have clarified that I have the 20Gb SSD/500Gb HDD version, I think the all SSD versions last a bit longer.
There was a 'true' review on youtube by a Welsh guy, had all this in it but I can't find it now0 -

Try looking at a Chrome book.
Saw one at lunch and was blown away. Turns on and is ready in about 5 seconds.
HDMI out to connect to TV.
Everything stored in the cloud so you can access the documents from the computer on any computer.0 -

What do you think of Dell Outlet?
I've bought quite a few machines from the Outlet and without issue, even the one that was supposedly scratch and dent looked fine. It's a good way to get machines with pricey options although it needs patience, the deals and machines available change all the time.

Just a general note which may help you frame your quest - long battery life vs bells and whistles - powerful processor, lots of storage, backlights, thinness all pull in different directions.
Your options increase if you dump windows - you can use a more netbookish device like a chromebook, or a tablet with separately powered backlit keyboard. Just an option to consider if you don't find the right compromise at the right price point.
By the way, most of the spec you want sounds like an ultrabook. Ultrabook is a set of minimum specifications, with several manufacturers. Look it up on wikipedia and you'll get a list of models and specs. They're not cheap though, but are rather impressive0
