If you were to take them to court, you'd need to prove the amount you'd lost. You can;t just pluck an imaginary figure from thin air. Picking up a piece (or pieces) of paper is the work of a few seconds and the cost to you so minimal, you'd be awarded pennies, if anything. The court would be seriously unhappy at your wasting their time on a relative triviality.
I'll hire a company to clear rubbish for me.
But what you are suggesting is to just grin and bare it, hey.
We are only small and people should walk all over us :rotfl:
We have placed a recycling bin at the door but that's not the point. They are violating our wish.

We keep the paper recycling bin by the front door....

That may be the answer, put a note on your door asking them to throw the leaflets straight into the bin. Save the middleman a job.

That is, unless the OP can prove they are worth £210,000,000 a year*.

*If it takes OP 30 seconds to bin the junk mail.
Yep, I deserve about £200 millinon IMHO
Anyway, how did you work that out on the basis of 30 seconds?
But the amount we get in a month, I have a feeling that it might just become a full-time job, you know, picking up the rubbish, time it takes to draft a letter, cost of printing out the letter, posting it, filing etc, all that admin that comes with it.

As someone said, one man's litter is another man's gold.
People do it all the time. Look India, kids pick up bottles and cans and get money from recycling. So I can't see why I can't make money out of junks. If the business don't like it, they shouldn't have littered our place in the first place.

I shall get in touch with a solicitor to discuss the matter.
Do you think property lawyer handle these kind of things?

Go on son, make them pay.
  • Assuming you are charging £200 for 30 seconds, that's £400/minute

There are 1440 minutes per day (60x24), so £576,000 per day.

    £576,000 x 365 days = £210,240,000

If I become successful on this, I'll let you know and you can have the share of success if you wish. I think sitting there moaning about it won't solve anything and the rubbish will continue to be put through the letterbox etc. If we all take action, we can change the habit of particular business...worst offenders overly priced pizza company and taxi firms.

Also, I can't see why it can't be extended to junk emails and mails if you know the sender's trading details. You register yourself with MPS and do all you can but if they keep on selling your details...I'd say fight on.

I think if you go to a solicitor you've got an expensive battle on your hands. I think junk mail is a pain-in-the-bum but just something you have to put up with.

But I probably won't be working 24/7 though.
Just need enough to keep me under the roof and basic stuff.

True, there is a slight difference from littering leaflets in the garden. But hence my invoicing £400 per minute to cover the cost of hiring a good solicitor etc

I'd say you don't have to put up with it if you sort it out.
Each to their own choice though.
I'd get up and do somthing for £400 per minute.

That's not my problem quite frankly phill.
It's the firm who hires employees who can understand simple English or instruct them to watch out for such sticker. But they are not even sticking it in the letter box. First, I noticed a few taxi cards, then next day it grew more in numbers. (They are not replicating themselves, another taxi firm's )

I'm with you on this one. I hate it when i'm posting RM letters through the box and all these leaflets are half hanging out of the box. Supposed to be pushed through the box fully.
