Should I move the thermostat or is there another option

Hi

Our thermostat is in the hall which is open plan with the upstairs and kitchen. It is significantly colder in the hall than the lounge when the door is shut. Yesterday I turned the thermostat down to 20 but the temperature of the lounge was 25. That evening I was sitting roasting in a summer top! I don't want to turn the heating down too much and have the rest of the house freezing especially as I have 3 children. I thought that the best thing was to get the thermostat moved to the lounge. However I have read that you shouldn't do that if there is supplementary heating. The room has a gas fire but we rarely use it.

Any ideas?

TRVs - thermostatic radiator valves :)

Just moving the termostat to the lounge will not resolve the issue - it will be the same as setting it to a lower temperature where it is currently positioned.

If you do replace the thermostat, get yourself a wireless one, then you can move it around if necessary.

Wherever you site the Thermostat it is a compromise. Although a wireless thermostat is a better solution is doesn't solve the issue.

In lounge - with lounge up to set temperature, no heating in rest of the house etc etc.
