Phone Warranty

Options
Hello All, first post so bear with me :)

I got a phone on contract from t-mobile 17 months ago.

It broke 7 months into the contract, and they said it couldn't be fixed.

They replaced it with a NEW phone, NOT a reconditioned one.
I asked if it had any warranty, and they said yes, 12 months.

It has broken again, after 10 months.
According to the IMEI number the manufacturer has confirmed that I still have warranty remaining on it until May, but they require proof of purchase.

I can obtain the proof of purchase from t-mobile surely? But that would be outside the original 12 month warranty I got with the first phone, and have the wrong IMEI number listed on the documents anyway - so it would be no good to me.

I haven't been into t-mobile (ee) yet, but will this weekend, and wondering what ammunition I will need to take in order to get my phone fixed, as I have a suspicion they will try to wriggle out of it, even though motorola state that I do have warranty!!

Please help :(

They supplied this phone and they can give you a proof of this. It doesn't necessarily have to be a purchase.
  • Hopefully motorola will accept that as a proof of purchase?

SBE Ltd do Motorola's servicing and they will require proof of purchase even if you enter the IMEI into Motorola's warranty checker. Well I did anyway, I had an in warranty phone that went wrong, Motorola site said it was under warranty, sent to SBE Ltd who needed to see some proof of purchase. The first 2 weeks that SBE had the phone it showed as out of warranty on their system web page then it changed to in warranty and they fixed it.

Although SBE took about 3 weeks altogether (snowy weather didn't help I'm sure) the did seem to fix the problem and for no logical reason also replaced the entire case and glass screen so the phone looks totally brand new again.
