I'm a bit confused here...you can use the credit card as a Clubcard but still pay on another card?

Yes. When I fill up at Tesco using the self-pay pumps I put my Tesco card in the reader to allocate the points and I am then asked if I want to pay using the same card.

I always do but the option suggests that another form of payment can be made.

It'll be a different club card number, but it'll be allocated to the same account, so you can see where you have used your CC.

I always present my Clubcard CC when paying for fuel as it gives twice as many clubcard points as a normal clubcard, and then use Aqua to actually pay, so get in effect 1% + 3% cash back.

You can do the same in store, but you don't get any additional bonus points for doing so, but at least it saves carrying two Tesco cards around.

I have been accepted for Tesco and Aqua cards so that is a great strategy for me too.

Indeed, and same as you I'm waiting for my Aqua reward to arrive, so will be using that in conjunction!

Used the Capital One Aspire World previously, 5% cashback and 1% back as CC points, not bad and as Tesco say, every little helps, especially with fuel nudging 140p/litre!

If you gave them your existing clubcard number in the application, they will be linked automatically. If not you will have to call a freephone number and get them to do it.
