Some policies have a higher garaging excess if the bike is left outside the garage and subsequently stolen. You will need to read your policy as was suggested above, to see where you stand."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

My previous bike policy said that theft wasn't covered if my bike was within 500m of my house and not garaged.
Which I thought was stupid as that's quite a long way. It's essentially saying I can't go to the shops on the way home; I have to come home, garage it, change trousers coz I can't walk too well with knee padding, then pop out for milk.
Was with bikesure btw.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

My scooter was stolen from outside my sisters house and the insurance company accepted that - I stated it would be garaged like you on my application. The difficulty may be on how long it was there - three days is not the same as 'i was there for dinner'Emergency savings: 4600

Policies often have exclusions on garaging when the bike is within a defined vicinity of your home address which I'm guessing your sister's house is not0
