Why shouldn't I buy this laptop?

I want a ASUS and I have £50 on Amazon. I realised I won't find a laptop right not for £350 like I did 4 years ago (when I thought that was expensive). I don't use it for gaming but might use it for things like sony vegas pro (might). Would prefer windows 7 but that isn't going to happen either I don't think.

I have been looking for ages and something or other puts me off but I really need to buy something but it's the money that makes me want to make sure it's the right one.

The fact that it appears to be red would put me off!
But, more seriously, it seems to be very similar to a whole bunch of laptops now coming out, and with some free or very cheap software which returns a usable Start button/menu desktop to Windows 8 you should be "good to go"...

Have a read of this http://lifehacker.com/5974318/downgrade-your-new-windows-8-computer-to-windows-7-for-free

......or you can still buy laptops with Win7 http://www.ebuyer.com/414648-asus-a53e-laptop-a53e-sx2225s

Thank you for your replies! I will certainly look into removing the start page on Windows 8 or downgrading to Windows 7.

As for the ebuyer link, apart from price, is the only reason to go for it because of the Windows 7? The Windows 8 has more space etc. but to be honest I don't have a clue how powerful it is.

And I also like red :D But not sure about a red laptop although it will do as I'm not sure where I'll get a black one from for a similar price.

  • Wow, I've never paid that much for a laptop / netbook, but I can see how it would be tempting as 6gb of ram in a laptop would be a dream for me.

I've been recommended dells before but I'm not a fan of them due to weight, style, and a few other things. But if someone can tell me if it is equally as good as the Asus linked in the original post, or better, I may consider it.

4 years ago I paid £350 for a laptop and thought that was expensive so I've been looking for similar right now. But the other day I thought, 4 years on, prices must be higher, so I will look as I need one. It is a source of income for me too as well as a place for hobbies and I've been without a laptop for ages now. I also have amazon vouchers to use so it is cheaper.

  • I went for a desktop touchsmart this time round as I too work from home and wanted a bigger keyboard with good ability to move around.

I have a room in the house that is an office, but it's also very easily moveable to the lounge coffee table if needs be and I use a tablet out and about. It seems to work better for me as I get more work done, much more quickly on the larger screen and easier to type on keyboard.

It's never an easy decision is it?

I will be travelling with it so a desktop is ruled out for me unfortunately. But it takes me ages to decide. This ages needs to come to an end now.

This is a good quality Laptop that does have a great amount of RAM but there is nothing that really distinguishes it from the recent wave of new laptops out there. so while you do have to pay more for the higher quialty devices you arte getting more for your money
