mammoth trip to plan

thanks for all your replies. Im trying to work out a budget to stick to and im thinking £2k? is this enough for maybe 11 days?
Think the train tickets im thinking of are around £400.
As the train would be hop on hop off, is it feasible if i dont book hotels, but just look for one when we get to a specific city?
is this safe?0 -
11 days??? For all the places you've mentioned you'd need a month!
If you only have 11 days I'd suggest sticking to a smaller area, maybe 3 cites reasonably close together eg either paris, brussells, amsterdam or venice, florence, rome.
Whether to book in advance or not depends on the time, it might be best to in the peak season but the specific trip advisor forums for the cities can give you specific advice.0 -
haha yeah might be a bit ambitious. have 2 and a half weeks really if i wanted so will see what to do with that. definitely going to drop brussells and amsterdam.
is it feasible to have paris, venice, rome, florence and barcelona in that timescale?
\what about the budget??0 -
I'd drop Barcelona as it's way out of the way. Budget probably OK, but check the prices particularly hotels/hostels in the places you're going. I think Venice is expensive.0

i dont know much about hostels, are they safe with a teenager?
Most hostels are totally fine and often quite good fun. The only issue could be dorms having older teenagers early coming in late/drunk. It might be an idea to have a look at the private rooms in hostels if you want to save on money but still be private. The hostels also often have tours available taht are much cheaper and run more often than the hotels have.
Hostelworld or hostels.com both have reviews of hostels and thier locations.

Sometimes small 2/3star hotels can be cheaper than hostels as hostels although maybe initially look cheaper, normally charge per person.
Booking in advance gets you the best rates. Rates can vary hugely and i rarely find booking direct cheapest. Www.trivago.co.uk and https://www.hotelscomparison.com search 50 odd booking sites to find the cheapest room rate.0
