mammoth trip to plan

hiya looking for some advice.
am planning a trip with my 15 year old around europe this summer. So far all i have booked are the flights from glasgow to paris.

apart from that i dont have a clue where to start.
PLaces we are planning on going are paris, brussells, amsterdam, venice, florence, rome and barcelona then flying back to london.

I dont whether to fly to each place, take the train etc.
also for spending abroad, i dont want to carry a lot of cash but dont want expensive debit card fees either. whats a way around this.

re hotels, should i wait till we get to each city or book in advance.
whats the best way to plan what we want to see in each place

sorry for all the questions, any advice appreciated

Train would be economical and you'll see a lot more and have a bit of flexibility Take a look at Inter-rail passes which allow you to travel anywhere. Do you specifically need hotels or are hostals a possibility-cheaper and you'll meet others doing the same kind of trip that you are .

Do you have a specific budget ?

You may wish to apply for new debit card.

    Another option

    and a new credit card.

    Alternative option

Though there won't be huge savings on a £2000 spend. Perhaps up to £60. But every penny will need to count.
  • I did look at metro bank but think you have to be in London to open an account and I'm nowhere near, how about prepaid travel cards?

I'd get train from Paris to Bruxelles and from Bruxelles to Amsterdam, then fly to Venice and travel by train in Italy, then fly to Barcelona from there.

I guess it's a bit late to ask if you drive?
As you could have a holiday at your own pace, stopping at some fantastic caravan and camping sites through France and Spain.

A bit of a tenting adventure?

You can take a cab or if you want, you can walk so you can enjoy the beautiful sceneries. Also, I think you can find cheaper cards. Just try to research.

Or if she's getting an interrail type card, she could get a sleeper to Italy.

OP, get a fee free debit & credit card as recommended. Have a look on Tripadvisor for the places you're going. Consider hostels - most have private rooms if you don't want dorms. Check specific advice for the cities you're going to on tripadvisor, the forums are very good, booking in advance will lose you the flexibility (to stay longer, or leave early, depending if you like the place or not) but it may be best to book in advance in some places.
