Used Car bought - Major problems, what are my rights?

It's not that simple unfortunately, as it's a kind of 'misuse'.
How do you "misuse" a car? you start it, drive it somewhere, and stop.
To keep the warranty valid, you have to maintain it to their requirements ... which is currently less than a year from purchase - so I'd be surprised if he's needed to do anything at all to it?
(sorry to deviate!)0 -
DPF's are very temperamental things, if all you do is drive short distances round town they will clog up, you need to give the car a good run to basically burn the soot off out of the DPF.0

It's a petrol car so there is no dpf? Or is there a petrol version?0

How did you notice first time your turbo problem ? You didn't mention was it a light on the dashboard on or by driving . I wonder if the original work done by the people who sold you the car , either did a shoddy cheap job or missed the real problem . Did they give you a invoice of job they carried out . Get all the facts . And then go back to them for assistance . I personally reckon they were not totally honest with you . Might even have contributed to this damage ?0

A petrol turbo Peugeot 308? Sure? DPF is diesel only. Remember diesels used to put out soot? Now that soot gets collected in a box at the exhaust, and has to be burnt off. Very high tech!
Anyway, shouldn't you just go back to the Warranty people and tell them you can't find a garage to take on the work, and ask them to tell you somewhere? Or as suggested above call them out to a breakdown?0 -
The warranty company is an insurer - you will find there are a good many things you would expect to be covered are not, and the fee paid (virtually) worthless.
Not only that, the BEST gotcha is - even if they decide the fault is covered, if the cost exceeds the value they place on a 5 year old, 25,000 vehicle, they can reject the work and leave you stranded.0 -
Would think your issue is with the warranty company rather than the main dealer. Really sounds like you need to go back to them and get them to either authorize the current work with the garage that you have the car with or provide a list of other garages that they work with locally for you to take the car to?0

You been putting petrol in your diesel 308?
I presume its the PETROL 1.6 THP sport. Heavy car little engine..
But i thought the depollution system was the name for the diesel soot regeneration system?
Lack of information on the actual car has wasted half a page of posts
Its not that warranty work doesnt pay, It wont pay for the proper diagnostics require to find out exactly why.
The warranty company want the cheapest fix possible. Turbo fault, Stick a cheap rebuilt one on there and send the customer on his way.
Hopefully it lasts longer than the warranty expiry date.
You need to list the exact problems you have with the car. Snippets of information has sent everyone off in the wrong direction.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It's definitely a petrol car, 1.6 308 sport 150.
Basically, the original problem was with the turbo. Whenever I accelerated the car was really sluggish. You put your foot down and the car is almost crawling through the low gears. If I take the car for a long run and keep it in 3rd gear then eventually the turbo comes back and is ok for a while, and then it happens again. It is used for mainly town driving, short journies.
The second fault is that I keep getting an error message saying "depollution system faulty". No obvious problems with the car when this error shows, although once the error appears it stays there and the engine management light stays on.0 -
Does the engine warning light come on when the turbo power drops?
Possibly a variable vane turbo. You need to drive it harder sometimes. Get all the parts moving as they should. Lots of short low speed journeys with no harsh acceleration may cause variable vanes turbos to stick. More an issue with diesels though.
But if your also have fuelling problems, Maybe its overfuelling also and choking the turbo.
