If not then i'm not sure what relevance your final comment had?

I was thinking of your Santander Credit card direct debit query

To answer you query about alternative savings accounts accepting direct debit deposits

I think Newcastle Building Society operate the Nationwide Mysave accounts ,therefore a Newcastle Building Society account would be an alternative option , also AA Savings and Birmingham Midshires

    Ah i'm with you now.

I looked into the AA one but you need the first deposit by cheque & the account that needs the DD doesn't have a cheque book (unless you can pay from a cheque linked to another account, but if memory serves, you can't).

Will look at the Newcastle one tomorrow, thanks. Egg was one i had a quick scan at too. Don't know how user/customer friendly they are.

I have an AA account and am 99% sure that you can change the nominated account once the account is open without a cheque from the new account , even if you need a cheque for the initial deposit

It looks like the minimum deposit is £1000 at the moment though

BM Savings (same bank) have an account which can be opened with £1

I use Principality Building Society for multiple DD's , they require a cheque or faster payment deposit from the nominated account and you then have to phone them to activate the linked accounts before you can transact

I think the MOB for BM is £1000

    2. OPENING AND USING YOUR ACCOUNT
2.1 The minimum opening balance for this account is £1,000. The maximum balance is £1 million.

Just read the T&Cs. The MOB is £1000 but after opening, you can reduce it to £1 and earn 0.5% and no bonus interest.

    Just read the original thread.

I dont understand why you don't just setup a DD with them? Wouldnt that be the quickest way to sort it?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

DD to send money out of their account? Can you do that?

The only money out option i saw was to do it manually.
