^ was there any need for that?!
It sounds like the OP is confused about DLA and Carers Allowance. So you were awarded high rate care and low rate mobility. This is paid to you and is your money, not your husbands and just because he has left, it shouldn't change anything. Carers Allowance is something different. It is one flat rate. Does that make it any clearer? Keep posting and ppl will help if they can.0 -
and if you look at the other thread she was told exactly what she needed to do.
we explained over and ober again... we werent thanked once ... then she starts a new thread, disregatfing all the CORRECT advice we had given.
thats why i was a bit riled.0 -

Think we need to remember the OP is new to the world of benefits. We've all been there. And it's a terrible thing to try and work out when you're new to it.
From her post count she's also new to the forums, maybe on this thread she just wanted someone to explain what the severe disability premium was.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
have you looked at the other thread and seen how much detail and care was given to explaining?
i posted about the SDP and EDP to let her know that if she is on income based ESA and her husband has left, she could claim these addition preioms to top up her ESA.
she didnt reply... but started this thread asking 'what is severed disability pemium'
did she think i was lying to her?
it irritated me that i had posted advice to her numerous time, over the course of more than an hour. others were posting too.
but no thanks at all, and obviously doesnt trust my advice.
fair enough, but i am allowed to comment on it0 -
And she's in a total state of panic right now. It's only a matter of days since her husband left... He's asking for the carers allowance that she's not even sure he's getting. Remember her illness could also be causing brain fogs too, she's suffering from MS.
I know you're not shown much compassion here nannytone, and I have a lot of respect for you. But do feel you are being a little harsh on the OP. She's going through enough right now without us adding to that pressure
And actually she did say a generic thank you in one of her posts. And thanked in the original post here..... Sorry but I have to agree with chocolate.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
i dont look for comapassion, im not particularly bothere what 'the group of 4' jave to say because it is so predictable.
but we took time to try and understand what she was asking.
and tried to stop her giving her husband what he said 'was his'( though clearly it wasnt)
a thank you would have neem nice.
but the fact that she got imformation from me ... but obviously didnt trust me enough to think that she needed a new thread to continue the discussion with someone else ...
well it almost wish id never treid to help her in the first place.0 -

Hopefully the OP has been in contact with the DWP today and received a breakdown of what she is actually receivingDear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
Tomorrow I am notifying the dla that he no longer cares for me, so I would assume that the dla will stop the care component.
This is the thing which the OP will not or can not take in, she is still mixing up carers allowance paid to the carer, and the care component of DLA, we have explained this over and over, for some reason she is not able to accept/believe it.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

Hopefully though, the DWP will be able to put her right and give her the correct information on whether or not carer's allowance is being paid [although unlikely, but better she hears it from an official source]Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. the severe disability premium is added to child tax credits if the the child gets the high rate care component (not carers allowance paid to the carer) it is also a premium added to calculations in means tested benefits such as income support/esa/housing benefit etcBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0
