Do you get middle or high care component of DL If not you can not claim severe disability premium sorry just re read op is your esa income related if so you should be able to claim it if not depending on other income and savings you may get a top up

The severe disability premium is awarded for you housing or council tax benefit.or council tax reduction. You can get this if you receive the high rate care component of DLA or AA, live alone and no-one receives carers allowance to care for you. It means that your applicable amount to calculate these benefits/reductions increases and therefore could increase your entitlement. It isn't extra benefits for living on, if that makes sense!0

It is extra money on primary benefits ESA, IS & JSA
You can get it if you don't live with any "non dependants"
For ESA you fill in form IS10. And you inform them that your partner has now left the household.0 -
But you won't get it until the Carer's allowance stops if you get it. Which from ur other thread looks like your husband may be claiming.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Tomorrow I am notifying the dla that he no longer cares for me, so I would assume that the dla will stop the care component. I was awarded high rate care, low rate mobiltiy and not my husband, although I did fill in a form stating he would be my carer at the time which he was. So once I am no longer in receipt of carers I was advised to apply for servere disabilty premium, but I have never heard of it?? I dont even know how to apply or even if I am entitled to it??
Hope this helps a little0 -
You will be entitled to it. But, as epitome said. It's an allowance that will give you extra esa/HB/CTB etc.
I think the best thing you can do first of all is call the benefit centre dealing with your claim for ESA who should be able to guide you through the rest, or call The Benefit Enquiry line on 0800 8822004 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
great thank you0

there is no point in informing DLA as they dont pay carers allowance.
you need to telephone DWP benefits delivery centre.
why start a new thread, when you had already been advised what you needed to do on the previous one?0
