It is great to know that the government and the majority of society accept the bullying of the disabled to save a few quid. It just goes to show what they really think of disability!
Maybe. But those genuinely disabled and unable to work because of this shouldn't be concerned.
Those who are trying it on are the ones who deserve to get grief....
Not saying the OP is - but surely no-one can argue that there is a need to weed out the shirkers from the genuine cases?0 -

Why only those disabled and unable to work?
I am disabled and luckily I can still work. For how much longer (in this job at least) remains to be seen.
I have overheard senior managers say I am a burden on the business due to my excessive time off, but I do what I can.
Because I work does that mean I shouldn't be eligible for disability benefits?
You will not find one genuine person claiming disability benefits who doesn't want to weed out those swinging the lead. However, when that process is 'weeding out' genuinely disabled people and stealing their money off them, whilst those who know how to play the system are still playing it and getting by the assessments, there is something seriously wrong.
If the current process of assessments was weeding out the ones who are pretending and guaranteeing those who are genuinely disabled were protected then you wouldn't hear any complaints from the majority of claimants.
That however is not the case. the benefit bashers know it is not the case and the Government know it is not the case.
Cameron has disgraced his own flesh and blood in his vile quest to decimate the lives of the disabled in this country. His son must be turning in his grave at what his father has done.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I agree with you. Its the sponging mentality in this country that makes it worse for the genuine cases...
I dont have the answers but something has got to be done to stop those trying it on and getting away with it. I would agree with you that its awful if genuine cases get treated badly.0 -

But the question still remains is how to find who these 'parasites' are.
Not even having to provide quality medical evidence for a DLA or being able to back up a claim for ESA with provable evidence seems to be working.
Take my mum's claim for AA. She provided medical evidence to no avail. However after we got Social Services involved, things changed. The OT received a factual report to fill in, she rang mum, mum agreed with what the OT was putting down and there you go - day and night AA award!!
Now knowing how the system works, you can forget medical evidence, consultants, GP etc - we will go and have a little chat with the OT who seems to hold the key for the award to be made.
Put it simply, if you know how the system works and who the DWP would love to have a supporting letter from, then you are home and dry especially if you are able to put 'it on a bit'.
You will never find who these people are because there can never be a system that would 'trap' them and not put the rest of the genuine claimants through immense stress.
The DWP work on the basis it seems that they accept that there will always be a percentage that exaggerate their difficulties and it is better to give them the award so that the majority don't find claiming the benefit too difficult. It's a balancing act.0 -

When I claimed DLA my submission looked like War and Peace.
I had GP letters, letters from my pain clinic, letters from my psychologist, letters from an OT, letters from work, xrays, reports, physio reports.
The DM turned me down.
It was only on appeal to the tribunal that I was awarded HRM, and only then because a) they had seen me walk, and b) I had pointed out to them how the decision the DM had made was wrong on a point of law.
Anyone who claims that getting DLA is easy has obviously never claimed it.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Pot / kettle Andy. Lost count of the posts you've made saying how easy it is to defraud the system and now you include your mum too. I know it's pointless asking you to get back under your bridge, we'll just have to await the mods banning yet another account and await your return again.
What is all that about??? And more to the point, how does it refer to me?
I think that you have lost the plot along the way!0 -
^^^^^ absolute garbage.

I'm not disputing what you say happened to you.
But like you, mum sent in a similar amount of info and she too was turned down.
Then the OT from Social Services got involved and submitted a factual report to the DWP that stated that mum needed care day and night plus a whole lot more. As soon as the DWP received that report an award was made for the highest, day and night care!
So it seems I have found out what constitutes a report that the DWP will accept without question. Just get the OT to put one in!0 -

You can change names daily / weekly but the true you shines through everytime and you're so easy to spot now (whether using male of female names) and it's obvious that you're trying to needle people.
Enjoy your spoils whilst they last.0
