You can tell them you have evidence that there was a direct debit in their favour in 1995 and give them a reference number if you have one.

However that does not mean they have any surviving data.

Unfortunately there is no reference number on the bank statement, just the name "Lombard North Cent".

Should I pursue this with my bank first or should I go straight to Lombard?

If they have sent you everything they have in a SAR, it follows they have no record of anything else, therefore asking them to provide records for something they don't have is a non-starter....
