my 23 year old daughter has just split with live in boyfriend , at christmas she had no spare money so took out a moblie contract for him in her name ...stupid i know .... but is there anyway she can cancel it ???? it is an 18 month contract with the same company her mobile is with .
I told her to report it lost at least that way he won't be able to run up a huge bill in her name even if she still has to pay the rest of the contract ...any help ?:rolleyes2

no she can not, but defiantly get the sim stopped, she can get a replacement sim so she can use it herself so its not a complete waste at least
see if they will drop the line rental down to the lowest aswell, (though many wont let her till at least month 9)Yes Your Dukeiness0 -

she could also do a transfer of interest into her boyfriends name

she can only transfer it into his name if he gives his permission to do this,
he would need to show ID and sign to take over the contract, If there still talking this maybe an option,
if not and he`s unwilling to return the phone i would report it lost to get the handset locked and also get the SIM barred so he is unable to make calls0 -
brilliant thanks , she has learned a lesson .......BR as of 26th April 2007 and feeling 10 years younger :T

I had the same problem a few years ago, my partner and I split and she had a contract phone in my name, all the post was being sent to her address as we did share the house but bought a house myself and kept the phone bill going there so she could pay it, we were on quite freindly terms but to my horror 6 months down the line a bill came through my door for just over £400 from a debt collection agency as she had not been paying it even though she said she had. So if you cant transfer the name of the account over I would strongly suggest showing this to your daughter and get her to cancel the sim and get a new one sent out to her. Hence to say we are no longer on speaking terms !!0 -
