The other half's haircuts used to cost £7.50 a month until I bought one of these, my son has AS and would never sit in the chair long enough without having a panic attack so I bought them to use on him and the other half decided I was handy enough to risk doing his hair.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

OH saves money ...by only going to get his cut when we're at his mothers on a weekday which is erm... maybe once every 6 months+! I used to like him with the longer hair, now it just annoys me. Its a running joke with the whole family (both sides). I've suggested that I could do it as I do daughters myself and 9/10 its fine (except the time she sneezed as I cut and I took about an inch off one side of her fringe so I had to take her the hairdressers at £10 for a dry cut!!!!)
I'm going to try suggesting I get soem clippers again, but I'll leave it until AFTER his sisters engagement party :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
The best money saving item I ever bought was an electric hairtimmer to cut my husbands hair. In all the time I have owned it(about 15 yrs) he has never been to the barber. Now I use it on my son, and have done so, since he was small. At 17, he still prefers me to cut his hair. He hates waiting nearly 2 hrs for the barber! I havent calculated the savings but they must be enormous. Those of you who havent tried this yet-do be brave, and get one-with the various cutters on it. I use 3 different ones on my sons hair, no3 at the bottom, no4 above the ears, and no 8 on top if that is any help to anyoneAnnual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I bought an electric haircutter which also came with a pair of scissors. I used to pay £96 for a cut and colour...now, I colour my hair using a semi-permanent (Nicki Clarke) and and trim the fringe and use the hair cutter for the neck. This means that I can go longer between professional cuts.0

My OH uses my hair clippers on head and beard. I get my hair done maybe once or twice a year and in between I dye my own hair. Was in boots the other day and instead of choosing by colour I chose by price first then colour. Very happy with the results of my £3.88 make over."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0

The best value hair colourant Ive found is Superdrugs own. At the mo they are offering 2 for £5. I found theirs was even better than Boots-maybe a bit more colourant-or it goes further. Like you, I choose the price first, then the colour. My last haircut was done by my dh-i do my fringe though. Lots of compliments at work next day-when I told them they were shocked, as they all pay for theirs.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I cut DH and DS's hair. They both have really curly hair so it's not so obvious when I mess up.:D I am building up the courage to go get my half way down my back out of control hair cut at the hairdressers. It's way overdue...May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Update : I've now been cutting OH's hair for about a year now I think
£25 spent on a hairdressing kit thing from Argos and I think it's just about paid for itself now. There are clips and scissors in the kit too so I can do DD's hair. I even layered her fringe for her last week for the first time, now she's not so sweating in all this hot weather :T:j:rotfl: Mine on the other hand hasn't seen inside a hairdressers since DD and I both went for a cut and blow :o I just colour it myself and keep it back out the way
