I must say we are elated at all the thanks and best wishes we have received from everyone here tonight.
I will like to pass a massive thanks you especially to Mouse and DD.
I could not have done it without you.
We both went out for a meal tonight and blew £40 on an Indian we could not really afford but said 'SOD IT' we deserve it after today.
We decided that we were now going to try and re-build our credit rating after our Bankruptcy in July 2010 which is now discharged and if anyone can give us some good advice it would of course be most appreciated.
I will probably start another thread on this.
Once again, to you all in MSEland a MASSIVE thanks from the bottom of our hearts you each and every one of you.

Just a quick one, but if a court order says to pay £70 off the arrears, then it's worth (IMO) paying that, and no more, even if you can afford to. If you CAN afford to (and you obviously have), then put the extra into the best savings interest rate you can find, against the next time your DH forgets to pay a fine / your children all need new shoes at once / the washing machine breaks down / the car fails its MOT.
Because if you have a court order, and you keep EXACTLY to the terms of it, then you cannot be touched. But if you have a court order to pay £70 pm, and you pay £100 one month and only £50 the next, you may think you're £10 ahead of yourself, but since you are technically in breach of the order you can be taken to court again. Obviously most judges would take a dim view of that, but is it worth the stress?
When you get to the point where you can pay off all the arrears AND carry on paying the mortgage, it's worth paying them all off. But not, IMO, before.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

I just read through this thread and so pleased that it worked out well. I must admit that I find a quite a few posters on here a bit snippy and sometimes downright rude so it is really wonderful to see someone coming on here in need and posters rallying round to the rescue.
This forum really is a great place - well done again and I wish you all the best for the future.0 -
