Feeling rotten - sent my boy bunny to get neutered

I feel really horrible, even though I know I'm doing the right thing. We got our girl bunny done, but the boy has really started bothering her in the last week, so I've taken him to the vets. I know it needs to be done, but I just feel awful - when you take them there and they're petrified :( She's now looking for him as well. My guilt levels are sky high :(

Thanks, i feel a bit better because I rung the vets up and they said he's coming round now and I can collect him at 4. It's just awful because of having to put them through that, but it will definitely be better if he isn't bothering the girl - you could tell spring had arrived lets put it this way.

I felt just the same when I sent my fluffy boy kitty off to have his peanuts removed and his sister to be spayed at the same time. I was warned by the vet they could be a bit docile when they came home. Were they hell... Just as boisterous and crazy as ever. They're 4 now and haven't changed a bit. If only more pet owners were responsible like you.

better have the cat go through a little discomfort than have him wee all over the house.

We just had two of our jills (girl ferrets) spayed.....I always worry about them when they're away from us but they came back fine, had a duvet day and then were back to being the mischievious little brats they always were - and now I know they will have the best chance of being healthy and happy for as long as possible :)

Their recovery time never fails to amaze me....imagine a human rolling about on the floor or clambering up and over everything two days after a hysterectomy :o

I think the thing that worried me is that the vets said our female would become more placid - she stopped grunting and going round us in circles and I felt mean because she wasn't the same after and I felt quite guilty.

However, this morning he's hopping around and grunting, I don't think it's quite as invasive for the boys - he seems happy enough. So all in all I'm now happy we got it done - just felt awful at the time.

Not sure if its suitable for rabbits, but for our male ferret we give him the Suprelorin (deslorelin) Implant it lasts about 2 years, its a chemical castration and hes home straight away with no issues, its quite costly though at almost £60 the last time but it works for us :)

Deslorelin is only licensed in the UK for dogs and ferrets :) It can also be used effectively on jills (girl ferrets) under the cascade system but only if you can get a vet who is prepared to use it. :)

You did the right thing! I got my rabbit neutered at the beginning of the year as you couldn't let him out of his cage without him trying it on with your leg :p
He was running around the house the day after he'd been done though; your rabbit will be back to himself in no time :D

Glad it went well. His hormones should die down soon and they can get back to snuggling!
