Vodafone phone problems- my rights?
Options
I have a Vodafone 24-month contract which includes a phone, but I'm having a few problems with it. The main problem is that it cuts calls off randomly. Sometimes it'll be fine, others it'll cut the calls off within about 4 seconds. It gets a decent signal when this happens, so I know it's not just running out of signal (not that it should anyway- Vodafone says I should get a very strong signal here).
Anyway, it's quite obvious that this is a faulty phone, and despite trying to get Vodafone to understand this, they just don't seem to want to accept this. I've called them no fewer than 3 times, and they've tried to fix it by telling me to switch it on and off, and sent me a new sim card, neither of which have solved the problem.
This is starting to annoy me a bit now, and I was wondering whether I'd have any rights to force them to repair my phone or cancel the contract.

Is it still under warranty ?
If it's still under warranty you can return it for repair if there is a fault, however the contract is seperate to the phone and that cannot be cancelledIt's not just about the money0 -
oh i forgot about asking how old it is if its in warranty send it to the manufacturerWhat goes around-comes around0

The phone is in warranty - it's less than 12 months old.
Only thing is, I'm not sure whether it's a hardware fault or a software fault, so I'm not even sure whether it'd be covered in the warranty. Even if it was, I'd be without a phone until it was repaired.
Is there nothing I can do about them charging me for equipment that is not fit for purpose?0 -

Did you get it direct from Vodafone or was it through a third party dealer if so return the phone to them
You may be able to get a loan phone whilst yours is being repairedIs there nothing I can do about them charging me for equipment that is not fit for purpose?
Theres a long way to go yet before you can reject as not foir for purpose ...you would have to send it back a few times before you can even think about that.
They are not charging you for equipment as you will have been given the phone free with the contract unless you have paid seperate for it or maybe for part of itIt's not just about the money0 -

Wasn't aware it was like that, glad I'm not paying £100s a year for the contract now. I thought that part of the payment went towards the phone, and therefore I had some rights with the provider if it went wrong.0 -
Vodafone & o2 merger of backhaul has thrown things off a bit same as EE, 3 seems to be the network with none.
I lock my Orange to old Tmobile on its 3G network as its faster than Orange & 3G means I don't get passed to TM 2G for calls as that network is as much use as any network with no.signal, at home or other places I use UMA hardware handset to connect to Orange.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

You do: the retailer can repair or replace at their discretion. No provider will just hand you a replacement if it's a software issue. On a residential contract you will not get a loan phone while it's being repaired though. The airtime service is still available, so you have to make do with a temporary spare handset in the meantime. Less than a fiver on PAYG.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
