I know and this is why I'm really interested. I'm not easily convinced and I agree that we have become over-cautious because there generally isn't any such thing as a free lunch. My concern exactly.

But I don't want to miss out on a potentially fantastic opportunity! I'm stuck!

What happens if you change your mind? Do you have a cooling off period? Will they want a fee for the assessment if you do change your mind?

If the document says you are signing for an assessment only, then that is what you are signing for. If the document says that you are committing to the works being done by having the assessment, then that is a whole different ball game. I wouldn't sign for the work to be done, before they have conducted a proper assessment. Plenty of people will be interested in doing this work for you, I can't guarantee others will be able to deliver on the 100% funding, but can you be sure that this lot will either?

Yes I've got the paperwork here. I asked him to leave it with me so I could read it through before I signed. I've read through the Ts & Cs and there's no mention of Green Deal apart from to state that "ECO works alongside the Green Deal to provide additional support for packages of energy efficient measures."

The company is called Yesero Ltd and is based in Rawtenstall, Lancashire. The form I'm looking at is entitled "Resident Programme Engagement Agreement".

If I sign it I "... consent to a full survey being carried out for qualification for the ECO Scheme and for eligibility for additional energy saving measures, such as replacement boiler, UPVC windows and doors and loft insulation." But he's already said I'm eligible for these and said I'm signing to agree to the work.

    What do you think?

""I'm signing to agree to the work""

    - precisely what work ?
    - when ?
    - how much ?
    - how is it going to be paid ?
    - by whom ?
    - when ?
    - when you sign, you may not be able to get out of any signed agreement !

What's the nett nett cost to be paid by yourself ? be careful debbi, get someone else in to check over any paperwork in case you've missed something in your excitement & enthusiasm. You have not mentioned any amount of money, not one penny, and yet you are prepared to sign a legal document ?

  • Hi Debbi21

I am guessing that carbon saving community obligation is the scheme that may apply to you. You are NOT REQUIRED to be on benifits in order to benifit from this however you need to be located areas of the country that are designated LOW INCOME AREAS OF ENGLAND to find out if you are in such an area put your postcode in here http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/ then click button Lower Layer Super Output Area then on the other side you will see a map will the LSOA code use this and look up this document and check if code is listed (google) ISBN: 9780108511608 if it is then you are in such an area.

However this does not cover replacement boilers this another scheme The Home Heating Reduction Obligation but requires the following benifits

    1. You claim state pension credit
    2. You claim child tax credit and your household income is below £15,860
    3. You claim either income-based job seeker’s allowance, income related employment and support allowance (ESA) or income support in addition to meeting at least one of the following criteria:
      1. You claim a disabled child premium
      2. You have parental responsibility for a child under 16 who lives at the property
      3. You have parental responsibility for a child under 16 or a child who is over 16, but is under 20, who lives at the property and is in full time education other than higher education
      4. You claim a pension premium, higher pension premium or enhanced pension premium
      5. You are in receipt of child tax credit which includes either a disability or severe disability element
      6. You claim a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium
      7. You receive a work related activity or support component (only valid if you also claim ESA)
    4. You claim working tax credit where your household income is below 15,860 and you meet at least one of the following criteria:
      1. You have parental responsibility for a child under 16 who lives at the property
      2. You have parental responsibility for a child under 16 or a child who is over 16, but is under 20, who lives at the property and is in full time education other than higher education
      3. You claim a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium
      4. You are aged 60 or over
Hope this helps. I would have been willing to check this all for you but it appears that if you PMd your address etc it would appear that many think I am a salesman? rather than just trying to help!

This is one thing that concerned me by using a private company would they try and levy charges on me for insulating the loft. We decided to use British Gas and everything went very smoothly.

Monstereyebrows - as most of your posts make reference to the private message facility then it is not surprising that your motives are being questioned.

This doesn't prove that other companies will or won't act unscrupulously, it just proves that you were lulled into using one of the big boys for the security you felt they offered.

I am sure Debbi21 would not want to post here address on here for all to see! Also the other post your refer to is where someone was eligible for just draught proofing and a thermostat so how could I sell them anything on a GD even if I wanted?

Sadly its not worth the effort I will leave it to you and all to others to offer the advice Over and out.

    - I made comment earlier, I make a~n~other now
    - you appear to be a very determined unscrupulous salesman
    - who repeatedly tries to get the unwary into the dark hidden world of PM's
    - repeatedly encouraging the unwary 'off board and out of sight
    - Debbi2 does not need to post her address or her bank account details
    - if Debbi2 did foolishly post such details the group would would immediately be there to help and protect her
    - if Debbi2 went out of sight with someone without scruples or principles - that would be a dangerous thing to do

Hey everyone, thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I agree about the PM ... this is an open forum, the purpose of which is for us all to benefit from shared experiences and good practice and I most definitely would not be naive enough to give out my personal details to anyone. But thank you for all your protective support, which I found to be very reassuring.

Just thought I'd post an update on this whole situation ....

Since posting the original thread and after a lot of consideration I *apprehensively* signed the paperwork. On 23 April and assessment took place and I was given a date of 05 May for my loft to be insulated. This happened and didn't take very long.

    I haven't heard anything since.

I am about to email them for an update, so I will share anything of relevance with you guys.

    Best wishes

    Debbi
