Co-op Bank - Paid in Cash in PO Cheque Only Envelope by accident.

Hi,
I have a Co-operative bank account and mainly use my local Post Office to pay money into my account. I made a rediculous mistake this week by paying £40 in cash in with a Cheque Only Envelope! I also paid in a seperate cheque in on the same day ie. Wednesday. On Friday I realised my mistake and called the Co op Bank. They told me to wait until the cheque clears and see if the cash goes it at the same time. They told me that all cheques are sent by the PO to their cheque processing centre in Northampton. I checked my account online today and the cheque has cleared but no sign of the cash. Has anyone else done this before and if so how long did it take to sort it out? Presumably they can still pay my money in as the envelope has my account details on as well as the pay in slip that I included with the cash.
Any advice much appreciated.

It'll probably just take longer than normal whilst they go '!!!!!!? This isn't a cheque!' and post it to somewhere else, unless the envelope has gone missing in the post of course. If it does, your screwed and have no come back.0

All the cheque processing for the Co-op is done in Skelmersdale, They will probs have sent your cash to Baloon Street and will be processed there.
You might get a "You should be more careful in future" letter or you found a colleague with sticky fingers.0 -

Wrong, I'm afraid. Co-op cheque processing is undertaken for Co-op Bank by IPSL at Blaize Pascal House in Northampton. You may recognise the address from the pre-addressed envelopes co-op supply.
I suspect cheque envelopes are opened under secure conditions, monitiored by video. So you should be OK.0
