Do you have capital over £16,000?
BitterAndTwisted makes a good point - your claim will go to a decision maker to decide if you had good cause for losing employment. However you will be paid whilst this decision is pending.
I was overseas from sept 2010- June 2012 and I definitely don't have capital anywhere near 16k.
Just to further clarify, I worked temp for 2 months (July-aug2012) in one school, lost that job then signed on the dole for a few weeks in sept 2012.
It was awarded then prior to me starting the last job in oct 20120 -
It'll probably have been income based JSA. Do you have a partner?I was overseas from sept 2010- June 2012 and I definitely don't have capital anywhere near 16k.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

In that case you will qualify for IB JSA. The only barrier you have now is the possibility of a sanction. They will ask you about your reasons for leaving/ being dismissed at your first interview, and it is likely they will also ask the employer for their version of what happened.0 -
You need to have paid or have been credited with the right class of NI contributions in the tax years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
If you don't earn enough you can claim income based jobseekers allowance and you can claim that having never made any national insurance contributions at all.
Thanks for all the replies
I will now apply for income based jsa0 -
Yes just claim as normal and don't worry about tax. You haven't earnt enough to pay any. Thanks for the message.

Thanks again cockaleekee
I didn't know sanctions like this existed!
The situation around my dismissal is as follows:
I had been feeling worn out and in need of a break so requested less hours
It was refused and I was in fact requested to work more hours.
This and other professional differences prompted me to resign, stating said differences and giving 30 days.
A few days later I called in sick and was subsuquently sacked by email.
I have since requested holiday pay (owed from last year) which has been refused and threats towards their future references have been suggested by them
As they have proved themselves to be unscrupulous so far, I dread to think what the outcome or sanction may be0 -
Contact ACAS http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461 or citizens advice bureau for adviceI have since requested holiday pay (owed from last year) which has been refused0 -
Many thanks I have contacted them regarding this and am pretty confident :-)
Does anyone know if I could claim housing benefit as well?
I'm renting a flat for the next 4 months but have only 2000 in the bank0 -
Why not apply for housing benefit and see what happens.0
