To recap:
Ran Malwarebytes - Removed various junkware.
Unistalled various junkware.
Ran AdwCleaner - Removed various junkware.
Ran Chkdsk (Check Disk) - Bad sectors found.
Didn't/doesn't freeze in safe mode - points to software.
Ran SFC (System File Checker)
Removed AVG secure search.
Temporarily uninstalled Mcafee.
''system volume on disk is corrupt - chkdsk completed sucessfully''
Removed Norton remnants.
---
From the first DDS scan in normal mode, hopefully the Norton services/drivers are gone (In green), as has the AVG toolbar service (blue) - But Iv'e notice there's another AVG driver (red) running also - we could try removing that and see if it makes a difference.
You could troubleshoot if the others are causing the problem with a clean boot. I'd be looking at Adobe, Nero, Skype - but it could be any.

It's up to you Tiff, we can carry on troubleshooting (I/we'll continue to help), or you can backup and factory restore - You've Recovery Management installed.
