Npower want more money yet I'm in credit!!
I received 2 letters today from Npower with the same issue dates. They are both statements - the first tells me that I'm £690 in credit.....What?? My first reaction is refund this immediately.
the second tells me that I'm £311 in credit (after paying £379 in charges) however they want to increase my direct debit from £69 to £146.
Am I going mad or is this a mistake or what?
1. they have at least £300 odd of my money that I want back and
2. they want to double my direct debit.
Looking forward to the phone call on monday.
Have to say not switched for many years but looks like now is the time.

same here, British Gas has just increased my D/D from £40 to £87 even tho I do not use £87 a month and never have, yet this amount is meant to be balanced for the year.
I think it's a case of "the computer says"0 -
Yup i too had this very recently with npower. They wanted to change the DD from £88 to £135 even tho I was in credit after the winter bill was deducted! Oh we will review your useage after 5 months was the answer. Err no I've been with you for years and the £88 is spot on. Either change back to £88 or I'll cancel the DD and leave. DD now back at £88. Honestly...0

Same here as well. I have given up and gone back to quarterly whole bill direct debit which you should still be entitled to the annual £105 discount for a dual fuel supply.
They gave me back my credit of £190 and then increased by direct debit by £5 a month...errr why?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Explain why you think their calculation is not right and explain what you think the amount should be and why.
I am sure they will take your comments into consideration.0 -

As per my original post, 'looking forward to the phone call on Monday'.
Will post back after this.0 -
With BG you can change the DD back to the original amount online - much simpler than wasting time on the phone.
I've given up on trying to get them to logically explain their DD increases so just log on and change it back each time.0 -
Have you contacted British Gas?

just found out last night, with a returned D/D as they took to much so another bill wasn't paid, I'm started a thread on this, I've sent an email and they are closed today  (closed all day Sunday wow) so will ring tomorrow.0 -

thanks for that, but how do you keep track of the increasing the amount and how much before the payment is due out of the bank, do they show the increase on screen?0
