in Credit cards
Got a letter today saying they are upping my cashback card limit to £3k and then explained the benefits of using my Visa credit card with extra spending power.
Errr... it's a MasterCard?
So, are they going to introduce a Visa card or are they about to announce a switch? Seems odd.

I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Which creation card do you have?
I wonder if they will switch to visa across all of their brands.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Visa has cheaper fees than Mastercard. This is why Barclaycard primarily only offer Visa (They have some mastercard but the APR is higher if you notice)0

I don't see why that would matter since its the retailer which pays the fee not the issuer. The issuer receives the money.
I thought it was only the World Mastercards which had higher interchange anyway, in order to pay for the various additional benefits World MCs provide.0 -

Incorrect. The issuer has to pay Visa/Mastercard for use of their card networks.urs sinserly,

Why? Mastercards do exactly the same thing as Visa and 99% of the population couldn't care less which one they get.
If it's as simple as "Visa fees are cheaper" then why doesn't every card provider in the country just use Visa?0 -

The Creation Cashback card (as mentioned at the top)I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

Visa fees are cheaper yes. You'll some banks get discounts to use Mastercards systems such as MBNA and sub prime lenders.0 -
Just look at "World Mastercard" they are trying to market as an exclusive product.

Banks love World MasterCard (Or High spend cards as MC like to call them) as they get 1% more interchange from the merchant. Although some banks / MC are being even more sneaky interchange rate wise are treating non-world mastercards as world MasterCards (Halifax seems to be good at this with their Clarity, probably how they afford free forex fees). Barclaycard also do this with their cashback card, it comes under as Visa Signature billing. (My brother owns a shop, which processes cards. American Express is one card he likes taking as they recently reduced their rates and often end up charging less than a Visa or MC due to these extra interchange fees).0 -
Simax, how long have you had the cashback card account before they wrote to increase your limit?0
