Werent you already warned for touting for business for your own website via posts and your profile?
I had a look at that website last time you posted it. Utter crap, especially in comparison to MSE imo.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

bought a CD player for my bedroom from Currys and was very explicit that the lights when in use and when on standby had to be hardly visible as lights in the bedroom keep me awake but I like to go to sleep to music. The sales guy showed me a nice unit, no standby light and a blue light when in use. In the bright store it was quite dim and he assured me that it would be a cool dim blue in the dark. Got it home and it was like having the Police in the bedroom with the lights on.
Took it back the next morning and they disputed the conversation and refused to refund, so I just said in the next breath “oh did I forget to mention that it also has an intermittent fault with the CD player, it plays, it doesn’t play, all with no predictability. I’ve tried pre-recorded CD’s of all types, it is just inconsistent and won’t work properly”. They guys face dropped and he no option but to refund me.
Yes you are at fault for not really checking or asking the right questions. It isn’t morally right but you could take it to another branch and tell them that it has an intermittent connectivity fault and you want a refund. Or if you are feeling brave, take it back to the original store and say you managed to get it connected as you got another imac to use it with, but that it has an intermittent fault and connects/disconnects with no repeatability/predictability. Say you’ve checked it on a friends imac as well and it is the same. Then watch the smugness slide of his wee arrogant face.0 -

At which point the retailer is well within their rights to test the product out...if its intermittent it could take a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.. In this case leaving the product on over night would show that the product continuously plays...what an utterly moronic idea.0 -

Not been called a moron since i was at school. Quality insult, but as moronic as you might think it is, it worked. Instant refund. Job done. Finito.
Obviously you have to think ahead of the game as my "issue" was that cds would enter the device but intermittently wouldnt load/play. They just couldnt sit there and keep entering CD's to disprove it without out right in my face calling me a liar as I had already stressed it wasnt repeatable even with the same CD it was just random, sometimes it worked sometimes it didnt. Leaving the product on overnight wouldnt have made one difference.
Had they not given me duff information about the item I wouldnt have had to go to these extremes in the first place.0 -
Yes LTLS you deserved a refund, but honestly they could of just booked the CD player into store, and listened to music for X days. Isn't that hard, just play a bunch of CD's. Excellent excuse from Management to listen to some of their own music to pass the time. If you wanted to dispute it you'd have to get a independent report.
In reality, giving a refund is far easier to do then investigate intermittent faults, but depends on the store and how busy they are.
For the Apple TV, they can just setup a TV in the Knowhow Bar, and play Top gear or iPlayer or anything from a Mac or iPod/iPad which will pass the time and test the item at the same time.
But we're getting off topic, so I thought I'd contrubute also.

A retailer is well within their rights to inspect an item and replicate the fault before refunding - you couldn't just make up a fault and then demand the retailer fixes the issue if they couldn't repeat it. Some retailers may not bother - but they are all allowed to. And very likely too if your obviously trying it on!longtimelurkersam wrote: »Obviously you have to think ahead of the game as my "issue" was that cds would enter the device but intermittently wouldnt load/play.
