How do I uninstall Java on my Windows computer?

As I understand it, you need Java to run FB Games and the like, as the OP suggested, but the amount of space it was using is a joke obviously kb rather than Gb..
Just install it as needed at next Windows upgrade, or when requested.
I always thought Java based games to introduce viruses, as they use unscripted text, then assembled locally, so they can sneak viruses through?? And Java is used on phones also?
Be happy for someone to clear that up.
So as I'm not into computer games i probably don't need it? I got a similar Java update request recently and, after ignoring it several times i did accept it. Since then I have had repeated requests to install but if i start, I get a message to tell me that I already have the same update.0 -

You can verify your Java version here: https://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
Obviously, if you have Java disabled in your browser you will see a prompt to install it.0 -
I have Java Script enabled in Opera. I tried the verify and received
'We are unable to verify if Java is currently installed and enabled in your browser.'
May as well uninstall it then since Java doesn't know where it is.0 -

You do realise that Java and Java Script are not the same thing?0 -
Thank you waddler_8 it took a while and haven't noticed any problems yet.
The only problem over the last few days is that my adobe flash thing keeps popping up as out of date, but I thought it was included in google chrome and I can't figure out how it may have become disabled!
If only when you clicked on the links for advise they would give it in idiot speak so that mere mortals like me could understand it - haha.

redped - No I didn't. Thanks. Can they both be uninstalled?0

No. JavaScript is built-in to the browser. It can be DISABLED though - the method to do so depends on your browser.
In Chrome it is Settings | Show Advanced Settings | Content Settings button | JavaScript section | Do not allow any site to run JavaScript0
