    'nuvver data point:

Cancelled MBNA Silver in December '04 (£12,000), acquired Virgin (£15,000) March '05 - no hassle (except the "we've run out of black cards, here, have a red one in the meantime...")

-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • Hi I applied for a Virgin card recently and heard nothing but when I rang up very nice man told me it was because I held MBNA, A+L , Abbey Visa and Mastercard ( invited to hold M/card although held the others) all have Zero balances so perhaps is a case of not making enough money from me ! Will they have done a credit search on me ? Anyone else had trouble closing MBNA as I chopped up card and sent it back ages ago ?

    Just last week.

I cleared my outstanding balance on my MBNA card (9k) and applied for a Virgin card. Since it all took so long I cancelled my MBNA and thought I would phone up to see what was happening.

Virgin were very helpful on the phone, I explained that I had cancelled my MBNA card so technically things had changed since my application. They had a quick look for the file on the computer....

then it was as if a switch had been flicked. Mr Obsequeious on the phone suddenly became Mr. Downrightrude. Told me that I wasn't eligable for a card (not even Sorry, but...) and hung up on me!

Well its all part of the game to me but it may indicate that they could be tightening up in the way suggested. I would apply for another card but with my Egg card tied up with the anniversary transfer I have no SBT available for a couple of months.
A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent,
the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.

... you do have an Egg Blue, as well as an Egg Green don't you? You can (I beleive) use that as an SBT card.
