I think Windows 6 was popularly known as Vista.
I'm not sure whether it can be done with an AOL modem/router, but there is normally a reset to factory button, which will apply the default password again. But as I say, I'm not sure what that will do on an AOL branded one.0 -

I am at my father in laws and he has forgotten his password. I've got it saved to my phone but can't reveal the password. Likewise we can't see it on his pc. Short of calling AOL to reset it, is there anyway we can reveal I hide the password characters? Father in law has Alzheimer's.

Microsoft's numbering system is somewhat baffling. I'm using "Windows 8" but technically the version number is "Version 6.2".0

You do not need to download anything if you already have a computer connected via wifi, you just need a USB flash drive
- Plug in USB flash drive
- Go to Network and Sharing Center
- Click on Manage Wireless Networks
- Right click on the icon for the wireless network you want the key for
- Click Properties
- Click 'Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive'
- Click Next
- After a few seconds you will see a confirmation message.
- Click Close
- Click OK
- Close the Network and Sharing Center
- Open Windows Explorer (aka Computer/My Computer)
- Double click on the icon for the USB Flash drive
- Open the SMRTNTKY folder
- Open WSETTING.TXT
The network key is shown in plain text on line 9
