Worst money off coupons.

Sainsbury's coupons are generally designed to push your spend up. So if you usually spend £30 on average, then you can pretty much guarantee that you'll get a coupon offering you x amount off £40 for x number of weeks. The idea is that you get so used to putting £40-worth of stuff in your trolley that you'll stay at that level once you stop using the coupons.
But I can't remember the last time I spent anywhere near that much! I rarely hit £20 and normally stick to £5-£10. Why am I getting x off £40 or 160 points for spending £40? I was beginning to think the machine had broken and could only type the number £40 until the guy next to me got a voucher for £20 spend. I just give up now, coupons do influence my spending and so I end up shopping at Tesco far more which is a shame because I prefer the food and staff at Sainsbury's...just can't afford to not use the coupons Tesco send me.0 -
I shop at Aldi first, then across to Sainsburys for the things I can't get in Aldi (and in between I stock up any bargains I spot in B & M, Farmfoods, Jack Fultons and Home Bargains) so I don't spend a huge amount in Sainsburys any more. However, recently I have been getting my DD's shopping as well as our own and, consequently, spending more at any one time. Sainsbury's must have thought they were finally reeling me back in and I was getting £4 off a £40 spend every week. However, this week they must have thought they finally had me in the net and the voucher dropped to 200 points for a £50 spend!! As my DD should be back to driving again next week (had an op on both feet) my spending at Sainsburys will plummit! I now await future tempters!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Got a £9 off £60 at Sainsburys this week, makes a change from 70p worth of extra points on a £70 spend which I never use but still not as good as the 20% escalator last year (started with £8 off £40, then £10 off £50 up to £14 off £70) which was well worth having.0

Not bad coupons,
I've got £1 off £5 at Tesco Metro, every week for 5 weeks.
Only buy a few things there when I go into town about once a week.
We've also got £5 off £30, every week for 5 weeks at the new Aldi that opened yesterday.0 -
I got a coupon for 50p off Buffalo mozzarella. Great, except Tesco have put the price up by 53p.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

I take it that is a rhetorical question!0 -
Not the same class of coupon as rest of this thread but I'll post here anyway:
Ben and Jerry were giving away lots of £1 off coupons for their new core range of ice cream. Unfunnily enough all of a sudden many supermarkets started not including those flavours in the half-price (sic) promotions. Now the coupons have expired - core flavours being sold for £2.0 -
to be honest i only ever use sainsburys when ive been sent some vouchers. otherwise its a combo of aldi and morrisons.
i've currently got £12 off £60 or 12p off per litre when spending £60.
Got 6 weeks worth (3 of each offer).
With the fuel one me and the oh take our cars in together and i pay for both pumps with my voucher, so c £10-15 off the fuel.
Not bad really.
Mini me due March 2014

The other day I had a till spit for 60 Nectar points for buying a bag of fresh basil.
It was in the reduced for 10p. I used the coupon. So Sainsburys gave me 20p for free towards a future shop.0 -
I did a big shop using Ocado this week and saved £16 on offers on a shop under £100
Got a coupon this week from MyWaitrose offering me £10 off if I spent £100 and I just laughed and shredded it.
Ocado has a far bigger range, I get free delivery with a SmartPass which though I pay upfront does pay for itself over the year and I'm saving £8-£16 every week on offers. If it's not cheaper than Tesco I get a voucher (happened once so far). Customer service is fab too.0
