get the proper rubber 2pin connector. and make sure the male pins are on the appliance side!
ive done this many times with outdoor equipment with no problems.
in fact if you put one male connector on every outdoor item you own, then you only req one long lead!
ps, assuming all equip/items are double insulated of course!Get some gorm.0 -
You can get flex joiners from that well known DIY place and lots of other places - consists of a moulded enclosure with a connector block inside. They are designed specifically for joining cut flex (rather then cable, which is what was previously shown) and do not need to be plugged together as it's a permanent join. Also you do not need it to be waterproof as the hedge trimmer won;t be. You shouldn;t use it near water anyway.
If you look at this screwfix page, you'll see the item you need at the top of the page alongside the general description of cable connectors, although they don;t seem to actually have the item itself. You'd probably want a rubberised version too.

Not much of a reply but a source of amusement over the years. My Dad is retired electrician with 60 years' experience and every single time he has used my hedge trimmer he has cut through the cable. Luckily he can fix it so every single time I get it back with a longer cable which is great!
Interestingly, on none of these occasions was he using the (plainly visible and accessible) circuit breaker, claiming he'd done a 'risk assessment' and didn't feel he needed it. I can only say that the fact he is still with us in his mid seventies is a tribute to the insulating properties of cordoroy and and Clark's rubber soled shoes. And this is the man who has a blue fit if he finds out I've been up a step ladder because he thinks they are dangerous!0
