Mom suggested removing my trainers so i could feel my peddles better, and it worked, so i drove with nothing on my feet. This seemed to alow me to find my biting point a hell of a lot better. Am thinking of doing this tomorrow during my drive to college- Is this safe and legal??

    What? Are you serious?

It's just classic learning curve behaviour. The more you work at it the better you'll become. You'll become better more quickly as you get better too. So keep working at it. In the early days it's best to concentrate on not hitting anything and looking out for classic mistakes.

But you'll get your feet dirty!

Nah seriously, I think the police can do you for not being in proper control of the car.

If you can't feel the bite through trainers/shoes then something is worng with your legs. :)

Take yourself to an empty car park and play around with the clutch without using the accelerator (sp). Don't be afraid to stall it. You'll learn to know where your bite is through it. She should be able to drive the car without need for accelerating if you get it spot on.

And when you are driving normally don't be afraid to rev the engine. :D

Give it more right foot to help prevent stalling. It's a learning experience and every car will be different.
Try going to the other extreme - give it a fair welly and see if you can get the front wheels to spin. That's too much right foot.

Just slowly lift your foot until the car starts to move very slowly. Then hold it. This is your bite.

Or with the handbrake on, lift the clutch and accelorate (how the f*** do yu spell that word :rotfl: ) until you feel the car pulling.

10 mins practice and you should be fine. :)

You should go to this website

    https://www.2pass.co.uk

There is loads of info and a forum, with many people like yourself.

It will become so natural in time (well I like to believe this!)

I passed in August and I am still nervous at times. Don't worry about other drivers, I used to get so intimidated by them, then one day I thought, I have got a driving license and I deserve to be here as much as you (probably a better driver too, no bad habits and all that....yet ;) )

As long as you stay in control you will be fine.

I have to do the rush hour drive for school, 2 lids, 2 towns..all before 8.40am!

Still now on long journeys, I try to avoid them (but never can)

A week afetr passing, I done a 60 mile round trip to a beah resort (aaaahhhh) I was so petrified, but at the end of the day...I done it.

Just a few months ago I done a 40 mile trip..........for a shopping spree, and again I was petrified.

I know I can do it, but still it gets a bit scary.

Just try to relax, don't worry about others on the road, the worst that can happen is they have to wait. Try not to think about it too much, this might be making you do it. One day, you'll remember this used to be a problem.....and you remember when that was.

My FIL, drove my new car home when I went to pick it up and he stalled it, he has done a few times and he has been driving for more than 30 years. No two cars are the same and it's just a case of wearing it in.

I used to stall like it was a new trend, at junctions, roundabouts and even in the middle of the road. I blamed my ADI, as he had a diesel and mine is a petrol. I know it wasn't really him, but I felt better :) I don;t think I would know how to stall now...........................well in this car at least!
