I have been trying to make a real effort to take a good look at the food we are sold. It is scary to think canned mandarins are skinned in chemicles, pestisides in fruit and veg, drugs in meat...
Anyway we couldn't afford right now to go organic but i have an allotment and grow my own fruit and veg organically which i think is a big benefit. I will hunt the reduced section and choose organic over 'normal' if the price in difference is only small.
I have started buying my meat from local farms and any foods that i know will have pesticides on are soaked for a long time before eating them.

My order from The Range arrived today - only ordered it late Thursday night. :T Got the last runner bean bag for 5.99 and the biodegradable pots made from cow manure look pretty sturdy, certainly a good sub for peat pots.

When you start off though you can sow seeds in seed compost in plastic packaging from supermarkets - a dark one for the base with compost and a clear one on top like a propagator. :)
  • Popped in my local Filco store to find Easter Eggs
    found strawberries 79p
    p/p vine toms 89p
    savoy cabbage 49p
cauli, iceberg lettuce.cue's carrots all around the 50p price
    braces bread+2kg potato 1.00
came out with no easter eggs :rotfl:

Lidl [ ] has had offers recently on Rachel's organic yogurt

Not really. It was a smaller pot (350g rather than 450g) so was in fact more expensive per g than the typical price for two pots in most supermarkets.
  • I've just entered my fruit and veg from the market yesterday into my supermarket. We paid £11 and the cheapest was Mr S at £21.55.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D
