Yep taxi they help
Had another one of those conversations today with someone that makes me think
I was talking to a "friend" she asked me how I was going with the mortgage so was telling her, she said to me el you seem to be constantly dealing with money issues, I never deal with money issues if I don't have it they don't get it, one thing I will never worry about is money, you seem to always be working in ways to pay off faster or get more for your money, I couldn't be annoyed with that stress.
Now on the one hand she is correct, I do always have a wee eye in things and try to figure out ways to make money go further or pay less etc, I generally do have sheets with scribbles etc floating about, the difference though is I enjoy it, I get a feeling if satisfaction knowing that our money is working harder, knowing that I am taking advantage if deals, knowing that I am denying the banks some of my hard earned cash etc, she seems to think I am stressed but I am not, I get a kinda high from sorting something else out, when I sit down and figure out the difference we see financially and yet we are not in anyway not enjoying ourselves I feel as if I am providing for my family.
So I struggled to understand why she would say this, but I think she was reflecting, I remembered a conversation we had had recently were he was in tears as she didn't have enough money to pay a bill, and I realised that she basically lives with her head in the sand, occasionally bringing it out only to find things havn't improved so pops it back in again, it is her that stresses about money, she is the one that cries about it, I don't I look at the problem and sort it.
Sometimes it's great to have these conversations, it makes me learn more about human behaviour0 -
That's very true El. It shows how differently people interpret 'money worries' too. She thinks she doesn't have any, and maybe on a day-to-day basis she's right. It sounds like she has potential money worries though, and when they surface as real worries, she struggles to deal with them, because she doesn't have the 'tools' to do so.
Maybe there's a balance to be found between the two extremes, where you are 'money conscious', although not actively worrying. But always aware of possible pitfalls, bad habits and difficult/expensive times.
I am such a worrier though, and until I am loaded (snort), I will always fret about money.I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. If you have any questions about debt management and debt relief under Scots Law, just ask.The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow.0 -
Snags you are totally right ( hi by the way lovely to see you back xx)
She does "potentially" have a lot of money worries, I truthfully don't understand how she manages her money, I know she has those high charging door step lenders every week, I know she does have more debt than I would ever feel comfortable with, and yet she doesn't seem to think she needs to cut back, and can often be seen purchasing more things ( games consoles, I pad's, t.v's etc) the thing though that I am glad I finally noticed was our difference in attitude... I don't mean to sound like I am knocking her or taking her down, she is doing what is right for her, it's more about me recognising the differences between us
You seem to be doing great though snags I love catching up with your diary, you appear much much happier all round, that has to be worth a fortune in itself0 -
I think what your friend needs to learn is that there is a big difference between THINKING about money and WORRYING about money. The more thinking you do the less you need to worry it seems.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Well it's been a bit of an interesting day today, boss came in this morning and said el not sure if Thursday is gonna suit for the treatment as usually on a Thursday x happens .. I said yep no problems how does Monday suit, she said yes that would be best, so I went home nabbed a few hours sleep them got up and did what needed done, whilst on my way I was thinking of all the things you have all told me and decided to go for it, ok I am not charging extra for my service just yet but have decided to charge for travelling, so I got £4 from one person and £3 from the other for petrol so total made today ( not including the book I sold ... Just treatments) £37 ... With a wee sneaky £7 for a book as well
So all is gooooood0 -
