  • Wow El, you've been busy !! :eek::rotfl:

    Impressed with the forward planning you've been doing, great that you're in a place now where you can do that with confidence :)

    Hope work has settled down a bit after the recent escalation you had, pretty pants with the way it seems to have been deteriorating :(

    How's the garden / polytunnel coming along ? I was hoping to get some of mine done this weekend as I want it ready for my seed / plant purchases I'm planning once I get paid - alas, I've had a load of reshuffles with my audit work so wont get a chance this weekend :mad:

    Well things have been busy in the el household, we are currently dealing with unwanted American invaders in the loft, we have obtained two traps but need to get our head around killing them, we don't have an air rifle, have asked a friend if he has and if he would be willing to kill ( euthanise / murder) the invaders... He is willing to do the deed ( not sure if I should be concerned about that fact or not) he doesn't have an air rifle but he thinks hi friend might so will ask him. Not something either mr el or myself are really looking forward to doing/ wanting to do etc but we have no choice :(

    Then the temporary repair mr el made to the water part of the heating system decided to pack in so we have had heating repair engineers out ( thankfully mr el trips over them during working hours so we know plenty) ... They are going to fix the system and replace the broken bit but not for a wee bit as it isn't an emergency and its a BIG job just for something small ... Whilst the boys were here we had a discussion about the heating of our house as it is freezing and we need the heating on all year round ( even in summer) ... We discussed new boilers, new radiators, solar panels, wind turbines and wood burning stoves, now you would think the boys would suggest and lean towards a new boiler and radiators ( it's their business and would make them money after all) but they didn't , the basically agreed with our current findings.

    Whatever way we get out house warm is going to cost no matter what but having now more opinions backing our understanding I think we are almost decided on a course of action, it was great talking to the lads and having all their input and it really helped the fact that they wernt trying the hard sell, in fact they suggested that we leave our heating as it is as it could easily run another 30 years and any savings we would make having a more efficient boiler would not cover anywhere near the cost of getting said boiler fitted, they suggest we carry on with out wood burning stove option but to put it upstairs ( we want it down stairs) first and then maybe at a later date put one down stairs.

    So more things for us to mull over, we have been mulling this one over for a while now but it's good to get things off the table as well as getting things on the table :)

    In the mean time were still saving for whatever our eventual choice will be :)

    Hi Angel,

    Think we cross posted ... Polytunnel and garden are coming on, I really love spending time there, I fin it so relaxing and great food for the soul, I have two beds planted up another three dug over and weeded and the stakes etc all set up for the sugar snap peas and raspberries ... I still have loads to do but will slowly work my way through it all :)

    Sorry to hear your work commitments mean you haven't had time to do your garden yourself ... That really must be frustrating for you, do you get any days off mid week ? I've found even a wee ten mins outside can make a difference, I moved my potted plants ( blueberries etc) to a more sunnier spot ( I move them to a more sheltered bit during winter) it took me mins but the difference was very noticeable ... Can u maybe just get the seeds etc one day ( run roun the shops) then maybe just pot half a dozen or so the next ?

    I've recognised that with me also getting started can be hard but once I've done the first thing I tend to be ok at just adding that wee bit more till the whole lot is done, not sure if your the same though

    Work is ok just now, I was asked to apply for a more senior role, and actually gave it some thought as it would give me a chance to get more qualifications ( which I am unable to go for just now due to my current position) but the truth is the girl that had just got these same qualifications I having the same issue as me in getting a new job ( there are a few of us looking lol) so I am not sure of it would make any difference or not

    Still no sign of our invaders, so I'm wondering if maybe it has died ... If so we need to go body hunting :( yikes

    In financial news, still collecting Tilly tidies and transferring them between the accounts as planned, still researching unit trusts etc and slowly learning about it all ... It's another minefield of information but very interesting non the less.

    We're still on target for our 100 month challenge and will work out tonight or soon how much we have to pay next month, when I started this journey there were so many things to fix and juggling became the norm, now that I've been here a while and things are in place now it's just the odd tweak here and there, and the big changes that seemed so hard at first become second nature and the humdrum settles down it feels more settled ... I'm no longer a duck in water looking serene whilst my wee legs are flapping like mad :) ... Still glad I have the Tilly tidies to keep me busy and the research will be great for the new stage

    Hope everyone is good

    Great stuff, well done :j.
