  • Hi El, sounds like you've spent a while mulling things over. It's finding the balance isn't it. Good luck with your planning.

that's it exactly Tilly its getting the balance right, as i say i was sitting thinking yes we do have an emergency fund if we really need one, but as we pay the mortgage off this emergency fund goes, what do we have then? so that then as always snowballs into other thoughts so it's been good mulling things over and letting them sit for a wee bit then reading learning mulling some more before deciding a course of action, things could always change and often do, but it's good to have a plan :)

sugar or should i say lack of has been going extremely well not had any for must be nearly a week now, i still get wee pangs of cravings and i am having to fight them, i'm also having be careful of what i eat incase it sets me off but so far so good... i've also started barefoot running with the intention of dealing with the shin splint issue and poss heel strike, it is going to be slow going but i am hoping it works as i really miss the running and want to get to the stage where i can run 5k

saw your fantastic news about the weight loss ... well done, really happy for you :):):):):)

Just went to pay my council tax with my Visa card so that I'm using my £300 to ensure that I get my £5 and thy have levied a 1.25% charge ... So will have to pay via my bank account and figure out another way to ensure I spend £300 a month ... That's gonna be hard I reckon :(

Have worked out the whole council tax visa issue, will use the visa for the month and whatever is left that I need to spend to reach the £300 I will pay from the council tax, the rest I will pay online ( as I have done every year till now) it shouldn't be much more than. £30 which should be about 38p or less, that was I meet the £300 target for the visa and pay as little as possible in charges
  • Hi El,

Could you use the card as a fuel card and put your petrol spends on it, pop the equivalent monies into a savings account and pay off at statement date, then start again?

Hi thistle, I currently use it for diesel £120 a month and for £125 of my food budget a month ... That takes me to £245 a month so the council tax of £140 took it over the £300 mark, however now that they are charging I will be cutting that £140 down , I need to find £55 a month to spend on the card, I'm thinking mr el and I go for food once or twice a month ( money comes from the fun budget) at a cost of £15-20 a time so that added to the mix could potentially take it up to £275-£280 so I may need to put £25 or so from the council tax on to it paying that little bit of charge, we may not go out for a meal one month or may just go for one meal so that is kinda not set in stone, the diesel and £125 on food is though so it gives me some thing to work with, it isn't however good money advice to just spend no et so that I can get a free fiver so whilst I think we can sort it I need to ensure I don't just spend money for the sake of a fiver

    If that makes sense ?
