Its called the media effect - lies, damned lies, and news media.
Its what puts political parties into power, makes us a nation of xenophobes, hypes up our (near non-existent) security fears to bring about draconian oppressive intrusive legislation, convinces us EU is all bad and no good and tars all bankers with the same brush.
