In fact, excellent service from both Cheshire and Santander. :)

I spoke to the Cheshire again yesterday and they supposedly checked and said that they had sent all the details to first direct but not had anything back so it is first direct who are delaying things.
They told me to call first direct who told me that they have not had anything from Cheshire but would double check and call me back.
An hour or so later, first direct called me to say that they had then received a fax from cheshire and would send the money over in the next couple of days.
Obviously one of them is lying, but as to who, I have no idea.
Sounds like it's going to be necessary to do what you did - kick *ss! They both know it should be completed in 15 days! Did you say yours way held up far longer than that? Perhaps mention what will they (Cheshire) do about lost interest in the circumstances?

I just sent a Maturity Instruction form to Virgin Money today to say I will be transferring out. I sent with it a cover letter saying I had been told that Cheshire had sent the transfer request to them on 18 Feb. Whether it'll make a difference I don't know, but it may on an account that matures on 15 March.

Hope you get your transfer though sharpish now. Did you opt into emails/texts with Cheshire?

I never mentioned the interest issue on the phone, but it says on the Cheshire website that as part of their isa promise they start paying interest from the day they recieve the appllication.

That's true it does! Doesn't seem to be the case with a fixed term account that I'm transferring in. They (Cheshire) told me interest is only paid by then when they get the money from that account (which matures on 15 March). I'm told they have requested the money from Virgin Money when the notice has been served (in this case on maturity date).
