Hi, I'm not sure why you've received a letter but it's my understanding that DLA normally contact your GP during new claims or renewals and it's standard procedure to check information with them, although I've never personally received a letter about it. Are you currently having a renewal or have you reported a change in circumstances? That could be another reason why they've contacted your GP.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! They don't always contact your GP, and it is standard practice to advise the claimant when they do - for the reason that it keeps them up to date/ explains why the claim is delayed.
OP, there is nothing to worry about here, your GP will receive a form asking them to confirm your condition and how it affects you. There is also space for the DWP to ask any other questions they may have. If your GP is not up to date with your condition you should make an appt to see them before they complete the form, but otherwise they should be able to pull the information from your notes.0 -

Ah I see, well I've never been told about the contacting via letter, although I know they do contact my doctors. Perhaps they've never contacted my GP after all just the hospital, although I thought GP would be first port of call .I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

This was the stumbling block and why it took so long for my dd's DLA to be awarded. Wrote to GP twice, when GP finally answered the report was full of rubbish, I almost thought it was an ATOS report. Miss XXXXX suffered from a fractured tibia, when it was her fibula that was broken. Even though that's not what she was claiming DLA for :wall:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

OP
On your claim form, you will have signed a consent form which gives DLA permission to contact your doctor.
This is nothing to worry about, if you've been truthful on your claim and your GP will simply back up your conditions. They will not advise what you can and cannot do, it is a professional statement based on your medical history. So, like my husband, who has a degenerative spine and arthritic knees, the doctor will confirm these diagnoses and any treatment given for the conditions.
You've got nothing to worry about if you've filled in the forms correctly and signed your consent for DLA to contact your GP surgery.0 -
ive tried twice, unsuccessfully, to have my award raised.
both times ive asked them to contact my GP for more information, and both times they havent. theyve just made a decision using the form.
it really annoys me as my |GP is very well informed regarding my condition and is only too happyy to answer any queations they may have.
i did ask her to write a report for me to send in with it, but she said that wasnt they 'way we do things'0 -

Have you not asked them for a reconsideration or taken it on to appeal?0
