Begging request on ebay

Well, I do get this as well but I'm afraid I am letting the side down a bit..... I listed something on a 30 day BIN, no offers, at a figure in the high £600's ( I don't have a lot of £600 items hanging around, I promise) and as soon as I listed it a lady offered me £500 which I thought was pretty insulting, so I said no. 2 weeks passed it hadn't sold so I lowered the price by £100 and again she emails me offering me £500 and I sent her a reasonably curt message saying no.
In the last 48 hours we have decided to buy a wreck of a house so I think I am going to have to go crawling back to her and let her have it for that and at least pay for a bit of carpet, or the skip hire that we are going to need. I'll see what she says

Refer the person to www.familyfund.org.uk

Why are you all talking about Nigerian Prince scams? Me and Prince Abagbe are in love, he would never scam me. I'm trying to raise the £500,000 he's asked for to buy us a yacht so we can elope to Somalia at the moment. I'm truly insulted you'd think he was scamming me!!! Maybe I should use the eBay child trick to raise funds to be with my love quicker.0

Don't limit yourself to ebay, there are truly loads of [STRIKE]scams[/STRIKE], i mean entrepreneurial money making methods out there. Then you are your prince can live happily ever after

I've only ever received sob stories on ebay when I have sold cars.
There's always somebody who needs a car to get to work, has lots of children to feed and needs a discount.
I usually give a polite decline and have never had a stroppy email back.
I do love Freecycle begging stories. I gave away a lovely Mamas and Papas pram and had loads of replies. Lots gave a little story as to why they needed it but I just gave to the first person in line.
I did wonder if I should have gone with a sob story when the person that turned up to collect the pram had a shiny, new car which made me think they could afford to buy a pram!0 -
hi there
Me too are shocked. I have been a huge buyer and seller for 8 years now and never have had a problem.
I would report it.... some people ehhh..:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

I often watch items Im looking to sell myself to see how much they go for. I think most people just forget though.simply_tash wrote: »Last weekend i had someone message me within one minute of the auction ending with no bids, asking for me to sell the item to her for less. lol.
I actually don't see the problem with this. Your original price was clearly too high if it didn't sell and unless their offer was stupidly low it saves you relisting. I'm assuming you had a high starting price or BIN?
As for my selling, I've only ever had one sob story. I sold a mobile phone and a few days after non payment and me chasing the buyer, they sent me an email saying they'd lost their job and would I take 20% less than the final price. I actually sent a fairly nice reply back given the circumstances and relisted.
I've also had some stupid offers before. I listed a car at £2400 on ebay and someone sent me an email offering £1000. They backed up their offer by saying they'd seen the car go for that amount and that it was a good offer. I declined, naturally and they sent a fairly uptight response back saying I'd never sell it. I sold it a few days later for £2200 and made sure to email back this person to inform them of my sale.
Had loads of people not pay after winning but thats another story.0 -

I disagree with this. I have items that don't sell the first couple of times round, and then sell. Strangely, sometimes they are have a few bids on them when they do go, after not getting any bids when first listed.0
