They do advise not to put your laptop directly onto your lap. There is a potential cancer link.
There is a potential cancer link with virtually everything according to some areas the media.
Unless the OP is avoiding mobile phones as well I doubt the laptop is going to make much difference.
That aside, as others have said, how the OP can suffer a "substantial burn" from prolonged exposure to a heat source seems pretty questionable.0 -
If your laptop overheats (it shouldn't get to the stage of burning you) regulary even though its lightly used, your probably running programmes that cut close to its capabilities so it really struggles with them.
This happens with any laptop if you push its function too far, i have a gaming laptop, on internet and documents etc it barely emits noticeable heat, however if i play a game that it struggles with it will whir away and quickly act like a heater!0 -
The heat from a laptop is bad for men's "bits". I believe it can affect sperm production. Always use a tray.0

when I dismantled my dell it was completely blocked with fluff.
The cooling fan is for the CPU to stop it overheating and breaking. It has nothing to do with the battery, which is the where any heat a user would feel would be coming from.0 -

I'm currently sitting here killing sperm with my laptop. I've just checked the bottom of it and the battery is as cool as a cucumber. Everything else though is quite warm. Rather pleasant actually.

If anything, I would be concerned about the fact you didn't feel it burning you. You might want to mention that next time you see your GP.It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Never had a hot battery, heat always around the CPU area.
If you have problems with hot battery might be a faulty.
