Hi not sure anyone can help but i am looking for taxi insurance and not getting far. I have contacted around 5 different brokers to be then passed from pillar to post i am completly lost on who i have spoke to. Anyone got any tips on how to get insurance without going through 3 people to get a quote as there are no comparison sites you have to repete yourself constantley and pay extortionate broker fees. Thanks in advance.

I drove a Hackney for over 25yrs and we always used Graysons or Westminster.

Whether you are taxi-ing or private hire, the shortest route to the best deals is talking to the guys in the office or the rank. They will have the local and up to date knowledge.

I can see why it is so expensive, all the crashes here that I have seen this year have involved private hire cars, at least 4 that I can recall, everyone of them a private hire car that has smashed in to some innocent motorist.
One in to the ramp of a passenger ambulance, luckily the patient was just out of the gap.
Hardly suprising, insurers must know a big payout is guaranteed.
    Be happy...;)

    Yeah seems strange

A couple of relatives used to be taxi drivers 2-3 years ago and they used westminster

Put all your details into a text document and then email to the insurance brokers/companies. Ask for quotes to be returned as email. This way you don't have to repeat over the phone to each broker.

Ask your taxi office if they do block insurance, this would cost about £50 per week when you are working. If private hire and your car is plated make sure you get permission off the council if you want to use the car privately.
