VirginMedia BB

Just had 2 guys here to fit 2meg BB, 1.5 hrs total for completely new install.

Not too bad considering property is over my garage/workshop on steep bank, and not across lawn/through lounge wall.

Put in CD to install, part way through received error code 00.03.30.0188.
Didn't think enough was installed to work.

Googled error code, found here http://www.by-users.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=29660

Tried connecting and IT WORKS, so the question is,

Is it worth persevering with the CD?

Or does the CD just install the Virgin Media logo everywhere?

By the way this looks OK to me, is it?

What was posted on the forum you linked to is correct. If you’re connecting to the cable modem with a network cable, either directly or through a router, you do not need the CD at all. If you connect to the cable modem using a USB cable, you need CD only to install the USB driver software.

There is a process of registering the cable modem against your account, so Virgin Media know who you are on their network. As you can access the Internet, this implies it happened successfully. If you don’t get a correct monthly bill or money taken for the service after a couple of months, you might like to telephone Virgin Media billing, so they can get their accounting system straight.

    Thanks Alfie E

    It is an ethernet connection.

It all seems to work fine.

The fitter said I would need my account details to enter when asked, but I've not done any of that.
Thinking about it, he made a phone call to activate the cable, that involved my address and some other numbers.
    Move along, nothing to see.
