    Morning all,
    So far, today I've:
    *Done big weekly house clean.
*Rescued a jumper from a flying curry incident.
*Updated March budget I did yesterday as spotted a dd I'd not accounted for. Checked account for missing insurance payment, still missing. Unlike an insurance company not to grab the money asap. Thanks ally for your comments yesterday re this.
    *Did a survey.
*Sent off for free 4-min shower timer.
    Still to do today:
*Finish March meal plans now I know which days we'll be away.
*Move baby chilli & pepper plants to unheated propagator, then sow tomatoes & cucumbers in the heated one.
*Knit! Cast on a new pair of socks last night....lovely pattern but more complicated than my usual one, so need to do a good few rows in strong daylight to get used to it. I'm keeping these ones, as most of those I knitted last year, I gave for gifts or I sold.
That's going to be it for me today, as it's Mr foxgloves' cooking night so my job will just be eating it!
    Love to all,

  • I'm having a NSD today. Bought lunch in from home and resisted going to the shop to get anything extra (was only going to be carrot sticks and fruit anyway but i don't really need it).

Checked my ebay auctions - have 36 at the moment and the items with bids so far come to £75 and there are quite a few items with high numbers of watchers so hoping for some last minute bidding wars!!

I took out 2 weeks worth of cash last Friday and put this weeks in a box at home so today i got to take out that cash for the week. I will probably spend £7 at the football tomorrow but that is the only spend i'm planning - i have £30 for the week (Friday to Friday).

Checked my online banking this morning and have £87 in my holding account ready to pay onto one of my cards. I will see how much i have after all the ebay auctions have ended and will then decide whether to pay it onto one card or split between the 2.
    Lloyds CC: [STRIKE]£8651[/STRIKE] £8307 - Barclaycard CC: [STRIKE]£813[/STRIKE] £1208

    Hi all,

I have been missing for a few days again due to work, this week is the most tiring, 48 hours plus the two hour commute each day. Yesterday and today have been my days off before a 630 am start tomorrow.

    Today I have
Been to my chiro app and had my spine adjusted.
Wrapped and posted another ebay parcel. Have made over £80 profit after postage costs and am trying to leave this to one side in my paypal account, I am only transferring the postage costs.
Bought some bits in bargain store.
Rang CSA re "overpayment" and requested a breakdown
Paid bill and set up DD for daughters new phone ( on friends and family discount from my brother who works for phone company)
Emailed photos of my house to prospective new lodger ( current one is not sane)
Got together some stuff to help friend with job application
Submitted gas and leccy meter readings ( high debt on account !)
Ordered collage mug from truprint through offer in Martins email only £2 postage! Mothers day present.

I still need to wash and tidy out my car
    Eat !
    Take stuff to charity
Fill up with diesel for next four shifts
List more stuff on ebay - its becoming addictive seeing the bids rolling in ..

    Happy Friday everyone x

    Much love S x

P.S I wanted to share with you all that I bought a new freezer yesterday £260. Now normally I wouldn't consider this an achievement per se, as in the past it would have been bought on some form of credit, but this is budgeted for and paid for without getting into debt and without leaving me short for the rest of the month as I have accounted for everything. I also paid my buildings insurance bill upfront for the year. Its a great feeling being able to do these things and makes me want to set more ambitious targets to pay things like my car insurance bill in full for the year etc.

    Hi all

On 3rd NSD today (but will have to cave tomorrow as need shampoo and deodorant and don't want to be a stinky miss!)

    Today I have/will:

    * had breakfast from stores (buckwheat and wholemeal pancakes - yum)

    * didn't get up in time to make lunch to bring to work but had boiled some eggs last night so walked home (only 10 mins either way but a little more exercise) and made lunch there. I also resisted best friend trying to get me to have lunch out on basis that am not spending and am on a diet! so have saved at least £10 there.

    * made use of free tea/milk at work

    * going to a friends tonight for supper and a dvd rather than out boozing post-work. Not only does it mean I won't spend but it also means that I will eat according to my diet (she is under instructions to cook healthy!) also wake up with a lovely clear head tomorrow and not waste the day! And resisted an invite out for drinks post-work tonight

    * doing a "big shop" tomorrow although it's limited as I went through the freezer last night and was fully shocked at how much was in there so have devised a meal plan for next week.

    * have a friend's 30th tomorrow night which starts at 5pm!!! I've not yet told everyone I'm not drinking but means that I won't spend anything (my friends will be spending so much on booze that I'm sure the bar owner won't mind me supping on tap water) and food is being served there too.

    * going to clean the house this weekend as well and make it all nice to live in and I may also bake a chocolate tart to share between my buddies to cheer them up on monday (not very MSE but a nice gesture and baking relaxes me too).

Am hoping to have a relatively low spend weekend as next weekend I'm taking my parents out for a mother's day lunch which, looking at the menu will be quite pricey!

perni, sorry, I forgot to respond yesterday when you asked where I went on hols - I went skiing - so expensive, esp with the pound as against the euro at the moment - but viewing it as had a good time and non-stop laughter with friends so it was a tonic in itself!

    Happy friday everyone!!!!

Grrr - trying to pay some money from my new account to joint account for the bills and I need to have a card-reader or something as new transfer (they are sending one out!), tried to do it over the phone and they said I can't as I am not yet registered for telephone banking and need to go into a branch... local branch is closed grrr!!

Will have to wait until I can go in on Monday :(

On a lighter note... I have someone coming round tomorrow to possibly buy two vintage Singer sewing machines I have - fingers crossed the price is right :)

Was going to buy salmon kebabs for our dinner, but fresh salmon fillets were half price so bought those instead. Made a saving even without using a fish counter coupon I was planning on using.

Wanted Jaffa Cake bars, which were buy one get one free. Enabled me to get a Jamaican ginger cake for free which will be our Sunday PM snacks.

Double Nectar points at Sainsbury's so bought most of my shopping there.

Large Pork and Bramley pies at Sainsbury's were £1.25 each but on offer for 80p. As they are a favourite snack of mine I had one for lunch today and will have the other on Sunday instead of buying humous and pitta.

Didnt get the car washed...no point when it has been raining today and will get dirty.

Finally had my hair cut shorter than usual which will mean longer until I need to pay out for the next one

Can someone help me with a spreadsheet/suggest how I can record details of an account I have? I have a stoozing account that money goes in and out of throughout the month and each month I get in a tizz over it. So it has the stoozing funds (spent on a cc day to day expenses and put into savings for the 0% interest period), I also put in cc funds each month until cc pay day, then it has our house renovation fund in there which I fund each month but oh does each week and this we take money out of at various points through the month and finally money for oh's DM that she loaned us when we bought our house.

I just use an Open Office Spreadsheet I built myself. It's quite complicated, but broadly speaking, I set up a different page/tab for each of the following:

~Balance and limits of my credit cards.
~Current account balance and any forthcoming payments due off it til next payday.
~What I'm planning on spending my wages on when they next arrive.
~Dates and amounts of my direct debits.
    ~Money I'm owed e.g. from Quidco.
~What my OH wants for her birthday.
~Detailed breakdown of gas and electricity bills.

Or how about downloading some free trials of money management software like Ace Money Lite:
